A FEW SIMPLE RULES
We do not enforce arrival and departure times.
Upon arrival find a pitch then report to reception, do not worry we will call round during the evening to check everything is ok. At busy times it may be necessary to call at reception first to check availability of pitches.
To reduce danger from fire and avoid overcrowding there must be a 6 Metre (6 strides) gap between each tent. It may not be possible to allow gazebos or additional awnings or tentage in busy periods.
TO PROTECT THE QUIET NATURE OF OUR SITE AND TO ENSURE A PLEASANT AND SAFE CAMPING HOLIDAY FOR ALL, WE EXPECT CAMPERS:
to respect the property, the environment and other campers.
to avoid excessive noise at all times, being quiet between the hours of 10pm and 7am. (those who do not comply may be asked to leave the site)
to pitch tents at least 6 metres away from your neighbours, as explained above.
To keep dogs on a lead at all times, exersized away from camping areas, and any mess cleared up immediately. excessively noisy dogs and aggresive dogs will not be tolorated.
Open fires are not permissible but barbeques and gas stoves are welcome provided they are raised off and do not damage the grass. They also need to be suitably sited and attended so that they are not a hazard to other campers.
Severe weather warnings. If a warning is issued by the Met Office, you may be asked to move your tent away from the river or trees or to leave the site for the reasons of safety.
Special relevance to the River Eden
We wish our guests to enjoy the river and it's surroundings, particularly children but please be alerted to the following.
The River Eden has a SSSI status (Special site of scientific interest) and forms the Southern boundary of the site. Whilst the water level is ussually very low in the summer months, flash floods can occur with water cascading down from the surrounding fells the level rises very quickly with a very strong and fast flow. In addition there are steep banks to access the water. Our own children do enjoy exploring the river habitat but under no circumstances do the owners of Takoda Campsite take responsibility for it's guests in regard to the river and it's dangers. All children should be supervised. Finally, please do not allow any chemicals, detergents or other material to contaminate this protected habitat.
WE HOPE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR THESE SIMPLE RULES AND THAT THEY ARE FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL WHO STAY AT OUR SITE.
